PROJECTS
BRIEFCASE Project Description
BRIEFCASE is an educational initiative aiming to familiarize students with minerals, mining, and their real-world impact. The program encourages reflection on various themes, including conflict minerals, responsible consumption, sustainable mining, recycling, and climate change. Through an engaging online game, students learn about minerals and their applications from the comfort of their homes. Moreover, each developed “Briefcase” contains mineral samples and related products, prompting students to match minerals with their respective applications while exploring their unique properties. (Funded by the EIT RawMaterials under the Grant Agreement 18115).
MONOLITHOS participation role
Within the Briefcase Project, MONOLITHOS has developed a Briefcase focused on Pt metal, integrated into workshops. This briefcase emphasizes the significance of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) recycling and their prevalence in everyday applications. Students engage with noble metals through an interactive virtual game and gain awareness of PGMs’ recycling and mining practices. They also familiarize themselves with the cutting-edge processes involved in catalytic converter production. Through this initiative, MONOLITHOS underscores the importance of social awareness, emphasizing the impact of our consumption on global communities and advocating for ethical and sustainable resource sourcing. Ultimately, our goal is to empower participants to implement these practices responsibly within their companies.
