After-treatment devices are the most effective means to bring down exhaust emissions of Heavy-duty vehicles running on diesel fuel to acceptable limits (EURO-VI norms) with very little or no impact on the engine performance. The main conventional after-treatment devices to cut down emissions from diesel engines include the use of diesel particulate filter (DPF), diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC), lean NOx trap (LNT), selective catalytic reduction (SCR), or a combination of these.
