Geopolymeric Catalytic Substrates

Did you know that over 1 billion tons of waste by-products from mines
are generated annually in the EU? Thanks to a recent innovative technology,
these waste tailings can be used for the production of geopolymer materials;
that is, ceramic-like inorganic polymers which are produced at very
low temperatures, below 100 oC.

These materials can become an environmentally-friendly alternative to cement, while they possess fire resistant properties and exceptional thermal stability. Besides that, their porosity can be tailored for catalytic or adsorption applications.

At MONOLITHOS we use this low-cost, sustainable material to develop catalytic substrates for a variety of applications including automotive catalysts. Our expertise in the production and recycling of catalytic converters combined with our
scale-up capabilities make feasible the transition to a more sustainable future.
